PETER MCKEON, AV Squad Live Action Director
Peter began his career while still in high school, shooting and editing underground skateboard videos that quickly gained attention within the industry. His work caught the eye of acclaimed director STACY PERALTA (Dogtown & Z-Boys, Riding Giants), who invited him to film and edit for the legendary skateboard company Powell-Peralta. At just 17 years old, Peter contributed to several landmark projects, including the influential BAN THIS. His talent also attracted Nickelodeon, where he began filming for the network's programming and launched the next chapter of his career.
Peter went on to earn a degree from the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S SCHOOL OF CINEMA-TELEVISION before transitioning into commercial art direction. During this time, he refined his creative and visual storytelling skills while working alongside renowned directors including HERB RITTS, PETER SMILLIE, JOHN FRANKENHEIMER, SAMUEL BAYER, JOE CARNAHAN, and ROMAN COPPOLA.
While building a successful career as a production designer and art director, Peter also wrote promotional campaigns and television branding for clients as a freelance creative. He eventually began directing the campaigns he wrote, leading to a staff position at the Los Angeles production company Mocean as Creative Director and in-house commercial and promo director. He currently serves as Live Action Director and Creative Director for Streaming and Commercial at AV Squad.
Throughout his career, Peter and his team have created award-winning campaigns for Apple TV, Discovery Channel, Showtime, TLC, History Channel, A&E, Hallmark, Nickelodeon, Lifetime, Food Network, and HGTV.
His work has earned three National Emmy Awards (from five nominations), multiple Gold Clio Awards, multiple Golden Trailer Awards, a Cannes Lion, and two Promax/GEMA Gold Awards for "Funniest Promo of the Year."
